LED Lighting is...

What is RGB?

RGB is the acronym of Red, Green, Blue.

Red, Green and Blue are primary colors. We use Red, Green and Blue HB LEDs to generate different colors. The way it works is by varying the output intensity on the the HB LEDs:

If we have the three HB LEDs at 0% intensity we obviously generate no color, that would be black.

If we have the three HB LEDs at 100% intensity, then we generate white.

If we have the three HB LEDs at different intensity percentages,we will have different color ranges.

In the lighting industry we work with a communications protocol called DMX 512 that allows us to have 256 different levels of intensity on each HB LED.

Now, if we multiply 256 different intensity levels, times the three HB LEDs...

256 x 256 x 256 =16,777,216 different colors!!!
